International Women's Day: Celebrating strength, sisterhood, self-care

International Women's Day is a time to celebrate the power, resilience and achievements of women everywhere.

It’s a day to honour the incredible women in our lives, our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends - who uplift and inspire us every day. It’s about recognising the strength that comes from supporting one another, embracing our individuality, and celebrating the beauty of sisterhood in all its forms.

The power of women coming together

There is something truly special about the way women support each other. Whether it’s through shared experiences, words of encouragement, or simply being there for one another, the bond between women is a force like no other.

How does #AccelerateAction apply to the beauty industry?

The 2025 IWD theme is all about the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality.* While beauty is majorly geared toward female consumers, it's no secret that most leading beauty companies are lacking women in decision making roles.*

“In the top 20 beauty groups in Europe, three have a woman as chair of the company, three have a female CEO and four have a female CFO.” **

This International Women’s Day theme, Accelerate Action, reminds us of the actions we can take to uplift and support women in the beauty industry.

Actions you can take to support women in the beauty industry on International Women’s Day

  1. Support women owned brands: One of the most direct ways to support women in the beauty industry is to buy from women-owned brands. This not only financially supports these businesses but also sends a message about the importance of female representation in the industry.

  2. Amplify the voices of women who are beauty experts: Women experts in the beauty industry bring invaluable insights and innovations. Amplifying their voices involves sharing their content on social media, engaging with their work by attending talks or webinars they host, and recommending them to others. By promoting their expertise, you help increase their visibility and influence within the industry.

  3. Celebrate the shared sisterhood of beauty: Celebrating the shared sisterhood of beauty involves recognising and appreciating the diverse contributions women make to the industry. Whether you're a beauty lover or a beauty expert!

Sisterhood in beauty: Bryony and Poppy's special collaboration

This year we loved working with Bryony Blake and Poppy Wellard not only because we learned so much from their expertise but because we also got to experience two sisters come together to create something truly special. Despite being sisters, Bryony and Poppy have their own unique make-up styles, so they carefully selected products that suit everyone, no matter your beauty routine. It's a celebration of individuality, self-expression, and, most importantly, the joy of sharing something you love with the people you love.

Take a moment for yourself

At OK! Beauty Box we are always looking for opportunities to champion women in the Beauty Industry. This International Women’s Day we hope you find a moment to celebrate yourself, your strength, and everything that makes you unique. Whether it’s treating yourself to a self-care moment, reconnecting with the women who inspire you, or simply embracing the confidence that comes from feeling your best, today is a reminder that you deserve to be celebrated alongside all of the incredible women in the beauty industry.

Because when women support each other, we all shine a little brighter.

Happy International Women’s Day.
